Awareness & Advocacy
We raise awareness and advocate for the rights and protection of street-connected children through community engagement, media outreach, and child-centered events.
Why they matter?
Street children depend on the streets to survive — some live there, others work there, and many rely on the streets for support, protection, or community. Each child’s connection to the street is different, shaped by unique circumstances.
No one knows the exact number of street-connected children, but what we do know is that behind each child is a powerful story. Poverty, family breakdown, abuse, displacement due to conflict or disaster, and social exclusion are just some of the reasons that drive children to the streets.
We are committed to changing the world for street children by:
Ensuring equal access to essential services, resources, care, and opportunities that all children deserve.
Amplifying their voices, empowering them to share their experiences and shape the policies that affect their lives.
Ending discrimination, so that every child, no matter where they live, is treated with dignity, respect, and humanity.
Together, we can create a world where no child is left behind on the streets.
What we do
Children living and working on the streets face many forms of vulnerability — from violence and exploitation to lack of access to basic services. That’s why CRO (Child Restoration Outreach) actively advocates for their rights and protection at all levels of society.
Our advocacy efforts include:
Lobby meetings with local leaders to influence policies and promote child-friendly governance.
Radio talk shows on local FM stations, raising awareness about the rights of street-connected children and encouraging community support for their rehabilitation and education.
Community sensitization meetings to engage parents, teachers, and local groups on the challenges faced by children on the streets.
In addition, we produce and distribute educational posters that address issues like domestic violence — now one of the leading causes pushing children onto the streets.
We also ensure children are given a platform to speak for themselves. CRO facilitates their participation in child-focused events such as the International Day for Street Children (IDSC) and the Day of the African Child (DAC). On these days, children engage in meaningful activities that help them share their voices, experiences, and rights with the broader community.
