Rescue, Rehabilitation & Reintegration
This ongoing program begins the moment a child is rescued from street life. It is designed to help them develop healthy behavior, positive values, and essential life skills that build a foundation for long-term success.
What We Do
Day and Night Street Outreach
CRO social workers conduct regular street outreaches—both during the day and at night—to identify and engage children living on the streets. Through conversations, they assess each child’s situation and determine who can be supported. The children are then invited to our center to begin the rehabilitation journey.
Street-connected children often survive through dangerous and difficult activities such as collecting scrap materials and plastic bottles, pickpocketing, scavenging for food, or working in markets and restaurants. These conditions make timely identification and rescue critical to securing their future.

Rehabilitation
Once rescued, children are enrolled in a rehabilitation program lasting between 3 to 12 months. This period is vital for helping them let go of harmful street habits and preparing them for reintegration with their families or placement into education.
Children in rehabilitation participate in:
Catch-up education (basic literacy, numeracy, science, art, and crafts)
Life skills training
HIV/AIDS and reproductive health education
CRO operates both a Drop-In Centre and a Transition Centre. The Transition Centre provides children with temporary shelter and essential needs while they prepare for the next step in their journey.

Reintegration and Resettlement
Reintegrating children into family life can be challenging. Some children face rejection, while others return to homes lacking basic necessities. Yet simple support—like providing a blanket, mosquito net, mattress, or even a basin—can make all the difference.
In some cases, CRO equips families with income-generating support, such as a goat, to improve the home environment and make reintegration sustainable.
