Recreation: Healing Through Play and Expression

At CRO, we believe that play is not a luxury—it’s a right and a vital part of healing. Our centers provide a range of recreational activities that support the mental, emotional, and social development of street-connected children.

What We Offer

CRO offers engaging recreational opportunities, including:

  • Games and Sports: Football, volleyball, netball, board games, and acrobatics

  • Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD): Children participate in choirs, drama performances, and cultural dances

  • Media Access: Educational films and television for relaxation and learning

Children regularly take part in local and national competitions, where CRO teams have won several trophies. These activities make the centers vibrant and welcoming, helping children build confidence, discover their talents, and restore a sense of childhood.

Impact Through Recreation

  • Advocacy through Art: Children use music, drama, and sports as tools to raise awareness about their rights and experiences.

  • Empowerment and Self-Esteem: Performing and competing helps children believe in themselves and find purpose.

  • Community Engagement: CRO choirs perform at national celebrations, district events, church functions, and even for fundraising and advocacy efforts.

Notably, the President of Uganda has witnessed performances by CRO choirs—whose powerful songs and stories highlight key issues like:

  • HIV/AIDS awareness

  • Children’s rights

  • Life on the streets

These performances are more than entertainment—they are a voice for the voiceless.
