Child Restoration Outreach (CRO) is a Christian founded and registered Non-Government Organization- S5914/667, established in 1992 with a national perspective, and has its Head Offices in Mbale City, Eastern Uganda. Currently CRO operates four branches in four districts of Mbale, Jinja, Masaka and Lira. It has, since inception, impacted the lives of approximately 13,000 street children and young people through rehabilitation, reintegration in families, provision of vocational skills, formal education in primary, secondary, tertiary schools and higher institutes of learning. OUR core programs include: Awareness and advocacy; Rescue and Rehabilitation; Education and Recreation; Health and Nutrition; and Economic Empowerment. CRO works with the People’s Institutions to prevent more children from coming on the streets and to support children already on the streets with rehabilitation, reintegration, and education.

CRO is looking for  an experienced, committed, innovative and hardworking person to fill the position of Branch Manager for Mbale.

Position:           Branch Manager

Location:          Mbale Branch

Reports to:        Country Director.

Supervises:        Social workers

Salary:               Commensurate with training and experience

Job Summary: Branch Manager’s responsibilities include working closely with the Country Director to prepare comprehensive action plan, timeframe and budget for assigned branch programmes. Excellent time management and communication skills are required as you collaborate with M&E staff, Branch Partner and community partner to deliver timely result. Ultimately, the Branch Manager; duties are to ensure that assigned duties are completed on time within budget and meet high quality standards,

 

Key Result Areas

KRA 1: Branch Planning and Management

  • Lead the development of Branch work plan and budget in line with approved donor budget, procedure, rule and guideline.
  • Work with the Country Director and M&E Officer and colleague to agree on annual performance target.
  • Deliver efficient high-quality service and work with a commitment to improve work proceed and performance
  • Ensure branch activities take place in accordance with the laid-out branch plan, budget and timeline.
  • Identify risks to the achievement of branch goals and bring these to the attention of the management and helping to develop strategies and controls to mitigate these.
  • Monitor and enforce branch compliance with internal controls and donor requirements.
  • Build and maintain effective relationship with a wide range of people in addition to own team, including donors, senior managers, stakeholders/customers, other team members and managers, external agencies and vendors.

KRA 2: Team Building and Management

  • Ensure that assigned staff are performing their job function according to the “Schedules and Method of Work” set by CRO
  • Work with immediate subordinates to identify training need and coordinate with HR function to develop comprehensive capacity building plan.
  • Ensure that all weekly and monthly report are completed timely by immediate subordinates.
  • Help build branch management capability within the team by collaborating with other staff, couching and mentoring other.
  • Conduct regular staff performance appraisal and technical support supervision for direct report according to CRO HR manual.

 

KRA 3: Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

  • Work with the immediate supervisor and the M&E Officer to conduct branch performance reviews to identify successes, challenges and document lessons.
  • Write periodic branch performance report for the assigned region a per the schedule agreed upon with the supervisor and/or M&E

KRA 4: Finance Management & Budget Control

  • Ensure proper utilization and value for money of organizational funds
  • Budget preparation and budget control
  • Preparation of requisition and accountability of program implementation fund
  • Ensure safety and security of branch property assets

 

Qualifications and experience: The applicant should be a committed born-again Christian with the following Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

He/she must hold minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work & Social Administration, Education, Development Studies, Social Development and Counselling or any related field from a reputable Institution with a working experience of at least four (4) years in a reputable organization. Experience in working with donor funded projects, management of finances and human resource is a must.  Key skills needed for this job include; planning, organizing and coordination, critical analysis, report writing, professionalism, effective communication, integrity and team work.
