Child Restoration Outreach (CRO) is a Christian founded and registered Non-Government Organization- INDP5293913NB, established in 1992 with a national perspective, and has its Head Offices in Mbale City, Eastern Uganda. Currently CRO operates four branches in four districts of Mbale, Jinja, Masaka and Lira. It has, since inception, impacted the lives of approximately 13,000 street children and young people through rehabilitation, reintegration in families, provision of vocational skills, formal education in primary, secondary, tertiary schools and higher institutes of learning. OUR core programs include: Awareness and advocacy; Rescue and Rehabilitation; Education and Recreation; Health and Nutrition; and Economic Empowerment. CRO works with the People’s Institutions to prevent more children from coming on the streets and to support children already on the streets with rehabilitation, reintegration, and education.

The Vision of CRO is to see “Children formerly living on the streets holistically transformed into productive and responsible persons in society”.

Our Mission is “To rebuild the lives of children on the streets, restore and reconcile them with God and with their families, empowering them to become productive”.

CRO is looking for hard working, committed, innovative and experienced persons to fill the following vacancies for its Branch in Masaka.

Position:           Social Workers (2)

Location:          Masaka Branch

Reports to:       Branch Manager.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Branch Manager, the Social worker shall ensure holistic development among children rescued from street situations through provision of social, psycho-social, spiritual and economic empowerment interventions in collaboration with the care takers, targeted communities and other key stake holders.

 

Key duties and responsibilities

  1. To ensure that children are rescued from street situations, undergo comprehensive rehabilitation and are reintegrated with their families and communities.
  2. To ensure that enrolled children’s education and health needs are adequately assessed and addressed.
  3. To ensure that key stakeholders and structures are mobilized and empowered to participate in child protection and development.
  4. Identify risks to the achievement of project goals and bring these to the attention of the Branch Manager and help to develop strategies and controls to mitigate these.
  1. Build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of people in addition to own team, including children, donors, managers, stakeholders/customers, other project team members, external agencies and vendors.
  2. Collaborate with the Branch Manager and Programme M&E Officer to conduct project performance reviews, identify successes, challenges, and document lessons.
  3. Contribute to the development of project concept notes and proposals when called upon

The above list of responsibilities is not exhaustive, and the social worker may, in addition, perform such other functions as may be necessary within the authority delegated by the Branch Manager.

Qualifications and experience: The applicant MUST BE a committed born-again Christian with the following Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

He/she must hold minimum of a Diploma in Social Work & Social Administration, Education, Development Studies, Social Development and Counselling or any related field from a reputable Institution with a working experience of at least four (4) years in a reputable organization. Experience in working with donor funded projects is important. Previous experience working with street children is an added advantage.

 Key skills needed for this job include; planning, organizing and coordination, critical analysis, report writing, professionalism, effective communication, integrity and team work.
