A. Women and Men Clubs C.R.O runs four women clubs for the guardians and mothers of street children living in
CRO social workers visit the streets often to identify children on the streets. Day and night surveys are also carried out on a quarterly basis to establish the number of part time and full time children on the streets. The causes and numbers of children on the streets are established and appropriate help is given to the children.
When being part of a self help group, one acquires a great sense of economic responsibility and a good understanding
Children are supported with fees, materials and career guidance to equip them with knowledge, skills and values for self-reliance.

Vicky is a total orphan. She recently became an orphan due to a natural disaster that took place in Nametsi her home area where both parents were buried by a landslide in 2009. Many other people were also buried alive and very few people survived.
Vicky and her brother survived because they were in school which was far from the incident.
My parents left their original home because of land problems in which they nearly lost their lives. They settled in Namatala slum in Mbale. After a short while, my father left us and we have never seen him again. We did not have anyone to buy food for us, so I escorted my mother to the town to beg.
