Vicky Mutonyi's Testimony

Vicky is a total orphan. She recently became an orphan due to a natural disaster that took place in Nametsi her home area where both parents were buried by a landslide in 2009. Many other people were also buried alive and very few people survived.

Vicky and her brother survived because they were in school which was far from the incident.

Due to this tragedy, the two children were divided among the relatives. Vicky's brother John was taken by his Uncle while Vicky was taken to her paternal Grandmother.

After sometime, a sister to the guardian attempted to kill her by poisoning. This was due to some land wrangles. She therefore left the place to come to Mable for treatment. She also later decided to settle in Mbale in Musoto suburb. Life was found very hard for her and Vicky since she had no sure source of funds to feed herself and the child.

This forced Vicky to fend for herself. She got involved in the worst forms of child labour. She used to fetch water for the people who distil local brew for some little pay.
During one of the community outreaches, CRO Social workers came across her. She looked pale, thin, traumatized and sad.

While at CRO, Vicky was interviewed and enrolled in the Rehabilitation class. Her life was full of nightmares and greatly missed her parent’s love. She is currently in the Rehabilitation class and hopes to join another class in formal education next year. She would like to become a Nurse in future to save lives of mothers.

She enjoys playing games such as rounder's ball and singing.
She commends CRO for providing her with meals, love and care. She narrates that CRO has given her an opportunity to grow up as God originally intended. Long live CRO.
